Wine cooler not cooling
The unit runs but the interior temperature does not drop, or rises above the set point.
Symptoms
The wine cooler's display may show a normal set temperature, but the interior is warm to the touch. You may hear the compressor attempt to start, or hear nothing at all. Wine bottles feel warm.
Likely causes
Compressor failure, refrigerant leak, faulty start relay/capacitor, blocked capillary, failed evaporator fan, or a faulty temperature sensor feeding incorrect data to the controller.
What you can safely check
Confirm the unit is powered and the display is lit. Check that the door closes fully and the seal is intact. Ensure the surrounding ambient temperature is within the unit's operating range. Listen for any compressor or fan sounds.
When to call a professional
If the unit is powered and sealed correctly but still not cooling, the fault is internal to the refrigeration system and requires a specialist. Do not attempt to access the sealed system.
Our repair process
We perform on-site calibrated diagnostics: test compressor operation, refrigerant charge, fan function and sensor readings. We identify the failed component, quote upfront, then repair at component level — compressor, refrigerant, fan or sensor — and verify stable temperature before leaving.
Parts that may be involved
Compressor, start relay, run capacitor, refrigerant charge, evaporator fan, temperature sensor, capillary tube.
Safety note
Refrigeration systems contain pressurised gas and live electrical components. Do not attempt to open the sealed system, handle refrigerant, or bypass safety controls. For any fault beyond the safe checks above, book a specialist technician.
